Attempted assassination of Donald Trump

Event
On July 13th 2024 Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to kill former president Donald J. Trump during his campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. The would be assassin fired eight rounds in the direction of trump, grazing his right ear, killing Corey Comperatore, and injuring two other audience members.
Thomas Matthew Crooks was quickly eliminated by the former presidents secret service. investigations into motive are still ongoing, all current evidence points toward Thomas not being mentally ill or of extreme political ideology however a small minority speculate on him being a staged plant.
Initial Response
Destiny was in Nashville doing a show with Michael Knowles when the attempted assassination occurred. Perpetuating the vacation meme (the ideas that when Steven leaves stream for an extended period of time big events happen). Nevertheless he shared some firey opinions on twitter and did an short 30 minute stream on WhickTV.

Whicks initial contention was that despite low standards on one side this does not authorize democrats to engage in the same kind of rhetoric and behavior, Further he blamed democrats use of aggressive humor as causing divisions in the US.
Steven immediately rejected the idea that democrats have not acquiesced enough to republican fragility
Whick believed that the normalization of antagonistic humor was a "pandoras box" and enabled Thomas Matthew Crooks to fire at Donald Trump
Steven argued that the harm has already been done when trump attempted an insurrection of the USA and was granted absolute and presumptive immunity for 'core and official powers'
Whick attempted to appeal to practicality saying yes republicans bad yes they wont help fix the problem yes etc BUT.. ignoring morality the poor rhetoric and actions by republicans is why everyone sees them as 'the bad guys' and why they lost in 2020 and will lose in 2024
Steven pointed out that factually republicans and trump didnt lose because of their extremism but rather a poor handling of covid, further trump hasnt lost his popularity in the republican party and has only gotten more extreme and is polling better than 2020
Whick rebuted saying Destiny is being simplistic saying covid was the one thing that prevented trump from winning instead of being nuanced...

| Let me clarify: when I say “conflicted” what I mean is that I lean towards seeing it as a natural extension of the thing Trump and the MAGA kids support, so I don’t think I have much sympathy about the attempt enough to chastise people celebrating it. | |
